Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours isn't here, contact us.

What time is Jummah?

Jummah is prayed every Friday at 1:30 PM. Please come a little early to find parking and a place in the prayer hall.

What should I wear when I come to pray?

Please come in clean, modest clothing that is comfortable for prayer:

  • Men: loose clothing that covers at least from the navel to below the knees. Long pants are best; please avoid shorts and tight or see-through clothes.
  • Women: loose clothing that covers the whole body except the face and hands, with a headscarf that covers the hair.

Shoes come off before the prayer hall, so clean socks are a good idea.

Can visitors who aren't Muslim come to the mosque?

Yes, you are welcome. We ask visitors to dress modestly (long pants or a long skirt, covered shoulders; women are kindly asked to cover their hair in the prayer hall) and to take off their shoes before entering.

For a group visit, such as a school or church group, please contact us first so we can welcome you properly.

Where can I find the daily prayer times?

On the home page, which shows today's times and counts down to the next prayer. The times are for Pinellas Park, using the Diyanet method with Hanafi Asr.

How do I become a member, and what is the membership fee?

Fill in the membership application on the home page and we will get in touch with you. The membership fee is $420 a year for working families and $180 a year for retirees. You can pay it in person, by mail or with Zelle; see Donate.

Is there an Islamic school (mekteb) for children?

Yes. Mekteb, our weekend Islamic school, is held every weekend at the masjid. Contact us to enroll your child or to ask about classes.

Are there programs besides the daily prayers?

Yes: a dhikr with a lecture every Friday at Maghrib, a gathering with a lecture every Saturday at Maghrib, weekend Islamic school, and events through the year such as the Bosnian Food Festival. See the Events calendar.

What should we do when a loved one passes away?

Please call us as soon as possible at (727) 304-5403. The jamaat has its own Bosniak cemetery, and the imam will help your family arrange the Janazah prayer and burial according to our tradition.
